Research Assistant needed to help Catch&RadioTrack NZ falcon

Description
Help needed radio tracking and behavioural observation of the NZ falcon and prey bird counts
Volunteer research assistants wanted for a 3.5 to 6 month period.
Fieldwork: Radio telemetry, Prey Bird Count, Vegetation survey, and behavioural observation of NZ falcon (breeding display)
Hours: 8 to 10 hours per day (6-9 hrs fieldwork and 1-3 hrs data entry)
Days: 6 days per week -- depending on work load
Weather: work will continue in most weather conditions
Accommodation will be provided. Volunteers must provide their own food, personal gear including durable tramping boots, closing in hot or wet and cold weather,and toiletry, etc. (Taupo)
Location: Kaingaroa Forest (the largest pine plantation in southern hemispher), Waikato/Bay of Plenty

Radio tracking and bird counts: 02 June 2014 to 30 Aug 2014
Behavioural (breeding display) observation of tagged falcons: 01 Sept 2014 to end Nov (until they nest)

Skills required
Valid driver license, 4WD driving experience, good sense of direction, passion for wildlife and fieldwork, a high level of fitness and willingness to work with long hours in the field, commitment to help data collection and data entry, non-smoker preferred (working in a commercial forest), familiarity with exotic bird calls is a plus, experienced radio tracking is a plus
