Description
The Friends of Maungawhau Inc, through the Maungawhau Volunteers, are helping to restore native plants and improve the heritage protection, enjoyment and safety of Maungawhau / Mt Eden. Our focus is on the Batger Quarry Restoration. The project is supported by the Auckland City Council. Volunteers meet weekly on Tuesdays at 9.30 am at the end of Batger Rd. Please phone or make contact before coming. Maungawhau is an historic and recreation reserve with an openspace 1 zone in the district plan. Maungawhau is one of Auckland's best known volcanic cones receiving over 1 million visitors a year. The mountain is of national heritage importance.
