Description

The Friends of Maungawhau Inc, through the Maungawhau Volunteers, are helping to restore native plants and improve the heritage protection, enjoyment and safety of Maungawhau / Mt Eden. Our focus is on the Batger Quarry Restoration. Park Care is supported by the Auckland City Council and Friends of Maungawhau - meetings are held monthly. A mid week group also meets and other projects are planned. Maungawhau is an historic and recreation reserve with an openspace 1 zone in the district plan. Maungawhau is one of Auckland's best known volcanic cones receiving over 1 million visitors a year. The mountain is of national heritage importance.
